The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for performing regular accounting functions including the review and posting of accruals transactions, preparing financial and ad hoc reports, account reconciliations to include managing and maintaining balance sheet schedules, and posting general ledger journal entries.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare accurate, timely financial statements and analyze for discrepancies
- Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations
- Manage banking activities such as bank reconciling items, banking fees and positive pay exceptions
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Maintain Fixed Assets schedules
- Post home closings and lot take-downs
- Conduct regular ledger maintenance and reviews
- Create and run regular system reports for financial reporting and general ledger reconciliations
- Coordinate and resolve various issues with banks
- Assist with annual personal property tax renditions and property appraisal protests
- Abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies & procedures
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies
- Review and provide oversight of accounts payable team
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS [required]
- Production homebuilding experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
- Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Driven, proven performer in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills
- Thorough understanding of accounting functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Strong understanding of Job Costing
